  4. ║║   MaxMail is an Offline Message Host... You will be able to pick areas   ║║
  5. ║║ to scan for messages in, and then download the resulting packet of mail. ║║
  6. ║║ You may select either QWK or standard text packets. QWK has many more    ║║
  7. ║║ features, such as uploading replies. We reccomend using QWK format!      ║║
  8. ║║                                                                          ║║
  9. ║║   Once downloaded you can then read and reply to the mail, using a QWK   ║║
  10. ║║ style offline reader. You can then call back and upload your replies to  ║║
  11. ║║ the system, and they will automatically be put in the correct echo area. ║║

  13. ║║   You may also turn echo areas on and off remotely (see your QWK reader  ║║
  14. ║║ documentation). The menus in MaxMail are self explanatory, with options  ║║
  15. ║║ for Changing your configuration, Uploading, and Downloading Messages.    ║║

  17. ║║   First you will want to pick areas to have maxmail scan for mail. Then  ║║
  18. ║║ you will want to scan for mail in those areas. Having done that, Maxmail ║║
  19. ║║ will ask you if you wish to download the file. If you have any problems  ║║

  28. ║║ [C]hange configuration - This is the area that you go to if you wish to  ║║
  29. ║║    alter Your current selections for Packer, Protocol, Newfiles include, ║║
  30. ║║    QWK/Standard mail bundles and your choice of message bases.           ║║
  31. ║║ [A]dd message areas - You use this selection to add more message bases   ║║
  32. ║║    to the ones you currently scan. You can add one or more areas.        ║║
  33. ║║ [R]eset message pointers - This function allows you to control what      ║║
  34. ║║    message number your scan begins at in each area. Normally this is     ║║
  35. ║║    automatically taken care of by MaxMail. Each time you scan for mail   ║║
  36. ║║    MaxMail updates your lastread pointers to the last message scanned.   ║║
  37. ║║    Should you decide to scan for messages closer to the beginning of the ║║
  38. ║║    message base you can use this command to set the message number to    ║║
  39. ║║    scan from. You will be asked what area to change and what message to  ║║
  40. ║║    start scanning at.                                                    ║║

  50. ║║ [D]elete message areas - This command allows you to delete an area or    ║║
  51. ║║    areas from your currently selected message bases.                     ║║
  52. ║║ [S]can for new messages - This is the default command of the MaxMail     ║║
  53. ║║    menu. If you press Enter, this command will be executed. This causes  ║║
  54. ║║    MaxMail to start scanning your currently selected message areas, and  ║║
  55. ║║    then pack them up using your selected packer. At this point MaxMail   ║║
  56. ║║    will ask you if you wish to download the packet of mail, and if you   ║║
  57. ║║    wish to hangup after the download. These packets are then viewed by   ║║
  58. ║║    your QWK compatible offline message reader.                           ║║

  61. ║║ [U]pload Rep Packet - If you have selected the QWK mail packets in your  ║║
  62. ║║    configuration, this command will allow you to upload reply packets    ║║
  63. ║║    that have been created by your offline message reader. Once you have  ║║
  64. ║║    uploaded your reply packet, MaxMail will automatically unpack it and  ║║
  65. ║║    toss the messages into the correct areas on the BBS.                  ║║
